An MBA stands for Masters of Business Administration degree and this is a type of college degree that one would earn. The MBA was created in the late 1800’s when the industrial revolution took place. This created a demand for people with higher educations than a two year degree. Since that time, countless people have earned MBA and have gone on to pursue their career goals. If you are intestested in finding out about MBA, we will explain the basic types of MBA programs that are available. Once you understand what your options are, you can then make an informed decision to see if earning an MBA is right for you.
The Basic Types Of MBA ProgramsIn today’s world, earning an Associate’s Degree usually does not carry a person very far. An Associate’s degree is a two year college degree and employers know that onloy so much knowledge can be gained in a small two year period of time when the study is not specialized as with an MBA. Some studies have shown that an Associate’s degree does not even necessarily give a person a chance at a better job than if they simply graduated from High School. There are several reasons for this. First of all, many employees simply expect that a potential employee will have an Associate’s degree, therefore nulifying it. Secondly, what is learned during those two years can be and often is learned via job experience. Many employers will look at experience with work on the same level as a two year degree.
Contrary to the two year degree, a MBA holds more weight on a work resume and those who earn an MBA will, as most studies show, have a better chance of obtaining that job they wish for. Even if they must start low and work their way up the ladder, which is commonplace in the corporate world, having that MBA degree will help when it comes time for promotions.
There are different methods to obtaining a Masters of Business Administration degree. There are two year programs but in reality, these programs may take more than two years. With some courses, it may be suggested to take one to three classes per term instead of a huge work load. This can allow the student to focus and obtain a better GPA. In addtion, with today’s economy it can help to have some extra time to work and earn some money.
Alternatively, there are accelerated Masters of Business Administration degree programs in which a student can take a large course load, take classes during breaks and complete the MBA in under two years. It is suggested that a student have the ability to concentrate well, balance a schedule and have a clear focus on the tasks ahead.
Another option now available is what is called an Executive MBA, also known as an EMBA. This type of degree is for those who wish to land jobs on the executive level. Most often, students will be adults who have experience and want to advance in their career.
With any degree, online learning is an option at many universities and colleges. In today’s busy world, some find it easier to earn credits online. A student may choose some classes to complete online and some to complete on campus. Online studying is not for everyone. There is no class interaction and no teacher to student interaction; any questions and answers or converations are usually done via email.
